Speaking of HealthPregnancy and respiratory illnesses: Tips to reduce your flu risksSeptember 30, 2022
Services and Amenities
Designed with the comfort of patients and needs of staff in mind, the birth center offers many services and amenities.
Clinic connection
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic is connected to the hospital with access to the birth center. In the event of an emergency, women can be transported immediately to the hospital, saving valuable time.
Labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms
Nine private rooms offer a homelike atmosphere that combines the highest level of comfort with advanced obstetrical equipment and technology. Each room has a private bathroom and plenty of space for family members who wish to be with you during labor and delivery or visit after baby arrives. At mealtime, you and your support person can order room service meals from the inpatient menu.
Nursery care
Babies needing a higher level of care are transferred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where a highly trained and experienced team will provide seamless care.
Family waiting room
A waiting area is available for your family members and friends. Equipped with many comforts of home, it allows family and friends who are not in the room with you during labor a special place to wait for the arrival of the new baby. It also provides a welcome place for dads, children, grandparents and other visitors to sit if you need to take a break or rest.
Security
To provide the safest environment for your new bundle of joy, the birth center is a locked unit. Upon arrival to the unit, visitors must be granted access to enter.
Lactation and breastfeeding resources
Lactation counselors are available to provide support and assist with breastfeeding needs during your stay. The lactation counselors are also available on an outpatient basis after you go home.
View the facility
Take a virtual tour of the birth center to view the many amenities you and your family can look forward to, or call 507-334-3921 to schedule a tour. Facility tours are available as part of some prenatal education classes. If you are not part of a class but would like a tour, call to schedule one.
