The Sleep Medicine lab at Mayo Clinic Health System in Faribault offers outpatient service for diagnosing and treating sleep-related disorders. Patients are treated for a number of conditions including:
- Excessive somnolence (unusual sleepiness)
- Sleep-related breathing disorders
- Periodic leg movements
- Parasomnias (sleepwalking, teeth grinding, sleep terrors)
- Circadian Rhythm Disorders (unusual shift in sleeping or waking time)
You must be referred to the sleep lab by your primary care physician. If the sleep medicine specialist determines you are a candidate for a sleep study, you will be scheduled to spend a night sleeping at the sleep lab in Faribault, located on the on the second floor of the Crossroads Professional Building. The sleep lab bedrooms are hotel-like: homey, softly lit, and comfortable. Each room offers a private bathroom with a shower. The technical equipment and technicians are housed in a separate room from the sleeping room, where they may observe and monitor patients in order to prescribe appropriate treatments.
Patients then meet with a sleep medicine physician in Owatonna to discuss the test results and possible treatment options.
