The Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences coordinates all nurse practitioner and physician assistant clinical placements.
All nurse practitioner programs require students to apply principles, concepts and critical thinking skills learned in the classroom in an acute care and/or clinic setting. We are pleased to offer experiences in the health care setting as they are an integral part of the education process. For more information, visit the Nurse Practitioner Clinical Education Collaboration Program website.
All physician assistant programs include clinical experiences during which students apply the principles, concepts and critical thinking skills they learned in their didactic education. We are pleased to support these experiences as capacity allows. For more information, visit the Physician Assistant Clinical Rotation Program website.
Students who have submitted the Clinic Experience Request Form and been approved to complete their clinical experience requirements must:
- Complete an online orientation presentation and certificate of completion
- Pass a Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check (for students rotating in Wisconsin) or Minnesota NETStudy 2.0 (for students rotating in Minnesota)
- Provide immunization records and health insurance information
All required orientation materials must be saved in the student's file with their academic institution and be readily available for audit.
