OWATONNA, Minn. — Salwa Bakkali-Derksen, D.O., and Andrew Holzwarth, P.A.-C., have joined the practice at Mayo Clinic Health System in Owatonna.
“I am looking forward to providing excellent, compassionate care to my patients, and building long-lasting relationships with them and their families,” says Dr. Bakkali-Derksen.
Dr. Bakkali-Derksen earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Grandview Hospital, Kettering Health Network, in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Bakkali-Derksen is a board-certified physician, and will see patients in the Internal Medicine Department. She has special interest in rheumatology, gastroenterology, cardiology and pulmonology.
“Dr. Bakkali-Derksen is the newest member of our Internal Medicine team,” says Brian Bunkers, M.D., President and CEO, Mayo Clinic Health System in Faribault and Owatonna. “She is a talented and compassionate physician and we are pleased to have her.”
Holzwarth completed his master of science in physician assistant studies at the University of South Dakota, in Vermillion, South Dakota. He is a board-certified physician assistant, and will see patients in the Same Day Clinic. Holzwarth has special interest in sports medicine and concussion diagnosis and treatment.
“I am excited not only care for patients, but also to continue learning from some of the best in the medical community so that my patients have an exceptional experience with the most positive outcome,” says Holzwarth.
“We are pleased to be adding another physician assistant to our Same Day Clinic staff, Andrew Holzwarth,” says Dr. Bunkers. “He is well trained and will fit in well with our current staff.”
