Lake City hosts open house and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate remodeled emergency department
LAKE CITY, Minn. — Mayo Clinic Health System Lake City hosted a community open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Jan. 23 to celebrate the opening of the hospital’s newly renovated emergency department. The event marks the completion of the $1.1 million remodel project that began in the spring of 2018.
The remodel of the Emergency Department improves the capacity to care for more patients as well as benefit patients and staff with improved space functionality, privacy and safety. The new space now includes four private patient exam rooms including designated space for specialized treatment such as trauma.
The updated space offers telemedicine capabilities to allow emergency medicine providers to telecommunicate with other Mayo Clinic physicians in Rochester if needed. Some additional areas of the remodel include a large, private waiting area for family and friends and a safe room to treat patients that are experiencing a mental health crisis.
The open house event allowed the public to view the new emergency department prior to opening the new space to care for patients on Jan. 29.
Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City’s local leadership and board members, emergency department staff, and Lake City Area Chamber of Commerce ambassadors all gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new emergency department.
