FAIRMONT, Minn. — Fidelis Kiungua, nurse practitioner, Hospital Medicine, recently joined Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont and began seeing patients March 14. As a hospitalist, Kiungua’s primary professional focus is the medical care of hospitalized patients. His duties include patient care, education and research.
“I’ve always liked caring for others,” says Kiungua. “Having the ability to correctly diagnose a patient’s problem, see them get better and go home is incredibly rewarding.”
Originally from Kenya, Kiungua came to the United States 15 years ago, settling in Kansas. He later received his training from the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
“It’s a privilege to follow in the footsteps of the Mayo brothers,” says Kiungua. “Having the opportunity to collaborate with my fellow colleagues on behalf of patients here in Fairmont is fulfilling.”
“Adding Fidelis to our Fairmont team is a great benefit to patients seeking care at our local hospital,” says Marie Morris, M.D., Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont medical director. “His enthusiasm and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care is what we strive to provide every day.”
