NEW PRAGUE, Minn. — David Dare, M.D., Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine, recently joined the team of providers at Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague and started seeing patients full-time Jan. 29. As an internal medicine provider, Dr. Dare’s professional focus is the primary medical care of adult patients, especially those with multiple illnesses such as high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic kidney disease and diabetes. Additionally, as a sleep medicine provider, Dr. Dare helps patients with sleep related issues ranging from sleep apnea and insomnia to sleep and human performance.
“The science of sleep is a profound field of medicine,” says Dr. Dare. “Sleep affects everything, from our cardiovascular system, to gastrointestinal function. For this reason, sleep medicine is intrinsically tied to my internal medicine practice, and is one of many areas in which I help address my patient’s needs.”
Dr. Dare completed his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He later completed internal medicine residency through the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah and the University of Tennessee in Nashville, Tennessee. He recently completed a sleep medicine fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minnesota Regional Sleep Disorders Center, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Dare is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
“I consider it an honor and privilege to provide care to my patients under the Mayo Clinic banner,” says Dr. Dare. “Practicing in New Prague is exactly where I want to be, helping bring the best care to people in the community.”
“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Dare to our team of talented providers,” says Marty Herrmann, M.D., Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague medical director. “Providing the specialized care of internal medicine and sleep medicine to patients is a valuable service we’re proud to offer close to home.”
