BELLE PLAINE, Minn. — Mayo Clinic Health System in Belle Plaine will discontinue its Express Care service in Coborn’s grocery store Dec. 31 and emphasize its Family Medicine practice for same-day health care needs in 2019.
“Our team made the decision to discontinue Express Care in Belle Plaine after carefully reviewing how many patients were using the service and exploring opportunities within our Family Medicine clinic,” says Martin Herrmann, M.D., medical director for Mayo Clinic Health System in Belle Plaine and New Prague. “With the addition of our newest provider in Belle Plaine, Nurse Practitioner Kristen Bowe, we have expanded the ability within our Family Medicine team to provide patients with timely access and comprehensive primary care close to home. Our goal is to maximize resources and provide the most effective and efficient experience for patients.”
Dr. Herrmann explains that another benefit of Family Medicine is the ability to treat patients of all ages and with all conditions. Express Care is restricted to patients ages 18 months through 75 years and has certain treatment limitations.
Patients can schedule an appointment by calling 952-873-2276. Walk-ins are also accepted depending on availability. Family Medicine clinic hours will continue to be Monday–Friday, 8–5 p.m. Mayo Clinic Health System in Belle Plaine is located at 700 W. Prairie St.
Express Care Online remains available through Mayo Clinic’s Patient Online Services portal as a convenient, online care option for 14 common conditions for patients ages 18 months through 75 years.
