Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing is the #1 community hospital in Vizient’s 2017 Quality and Accountability Study out of 161 participating community hospitals nationwide.
There are a number of health care quality rankings across the country. Although no single set of measures can perfectly represent health care quality, Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing is proud to be recognized with Vizient’s Quality Leadership Award.
Vizient’s comprehensive quality and accountability study is based on actual care delivered to all adults in the past year. Vizient rankings provide a current view of six areas of patient care – safety, timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, equity and patient-centeredness.
This Quality Leadership Award is meaningful in part because it is recognition of Red Wing among peer institutions. It provides apples to apples comparison since community hospitals and academic medical centers provide different levels of care. Community hospitals provide majority of the health care patients need throughout the lifetime while academic medical centers care for the most complex and sickest patients in the country.
“What we take the most pride in is what this ranking means for our patients, Red Wing and surrounding communities. It validates that patients receive exceptional Mayo Clinic care close to home. Our efforts to add new experts in new fields, expand access to existing services and invest in the newest medical technologies increased in recent years so patients can not only get better, but also live well close to home well into the future.” ~ Brian Whited, M.D, CEO, Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls, Lake City, Red Wing
