Many options are available to help you meet your pregnancy prevention goals. You can choose to prevent pregnancy via an oral pill, patch, vaginal ring, injection, implant or IUD, and tubal ligation. Birth control options are available in short- and long-term reversible and permanent options. The frequency that these must be administered varies depending on the option.
Some birth controls options can have additional benefits for some women, including making menstruation lighter or more predictable. Talk with your provider in Osseo if you have additional questions about this personal decision and to determine how your medical history may affect your birth control choice.

PERMANENT BIRTH CONTROL
If you are done having children, we offer a permanent birth control procedure that is performed in a clinic setting without incisions, eliminating the risks of surgery and general anesthesia. The procedure is 99.8 percent effective and is offered in Eau Claire, Menomonie and Rice Lake.
The procedure takes about 15 minutes, and you are in the clinic for about an hour and a half. During the procedure, a soft, flexible coil is placed into the fallopian tubes. After the coils are in place, tissue grows around them creating a barrier. You need to use another form of birth control during this period. The barrier is confirmed with an X-ray test after about three months, and then other birth control methods can be eliminated. Recovery time is minimal.
