Registration

Biometric Screening Provided

A pre-program and post-program biometric screening is included. This screening includes measuring height, weight, waist circumference, and a detailed Tanita body composition analysis (BCA). The BCA indicates muscle mass and fat levels for the trunk and each limb, a more specific reading which helps track changes over the program duration. Because the body composition analyzer sends a mild electric current through the body, DO NOT use if you have an implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker.

Individual Session with Dietitian

Each participant will be able to schedule a 30-minute individual session with the registered dietitian at an interval of their choosing during the 12-week program.  The dietitian will communicate scheduling options at the beginning of the program.  Additional individual sessions are available for a fee.

Restricted from Participation

  • Participants under 18 years old
  • Participants who are pregnant or breastfeeding less than 12 weeks
  • Participants that are currently exhibiting signs of or are being treated for an eating disorder

Medical Clearance

Before participating in the program, you are strongly encouraged to seek medical clearance from your primary care provider, especially if you have a medical condition as there is NO medical monitoring in this program. Medical clearance will be necessary if indicated by the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) form, which participants will be required to fill out at the first class.

Conduct and Confidentiality

Participants are asked to arrive to class a few minutes early, be active learners, listen respectfully to the facilitator and other participants, use discussion time to ask questions, keep information shared by others confidential, and most importantly, have fun while losing weight!

If at any time the Mayo Clinic staff feels it is in the participant’s best interest, the participant may be discharged from the program.

By choosing to participate in The Mayo Clinic Diet Program, your biometric data will be available to Mayo Clinic Health System Clinical Dietetics personnel for program evaluation and research purposes only. No individual data will be shared or reported to anyone outside of the clinical dietetics department, only group data will be shared and reported.
