As we continue to focus on holistic patient centered care for our mothers and babies, the Family Birthplace has implemented Quiet Time for our mothers who have delivered.
Quiet Time occurs daily between 1 and 2:30 p.m. During this time the lights in the Family Birthplace are dimmed, a sign is placed at each elevator entrance indicating that mom and baby are resting, and the Family Birthplace Team will not disturb mothers and babies resting, unless help is requested by using the nurse call light. Patients can choose to decline Quiet Time.
We believe that Quiet Time is necessary, and it will allow mothers to relax, refresh and maybe even nap during the afternoon. We hope that Quiet Time will encourage mothers to continue to take time for themselves after their discharge.
