For patients experiencing or anticipating a high risk pregnancy, our Obstetrics & Gynecology department offers consults with a team of Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists from Mayo Clinic at the La Crosse Clinic, as well as direct access to their care and expertise at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Specifically, the Mayo Clinic consultants provide patients with advanced services such as Level II Ultrasounds—an ultrasound which gives a more detailed evaluation of the fetus. They also offer genetic amniocentesis, as well as evaluate and make recommendations regarding high risk pregnancies, and preform in-utero procedures.
Women benefiting most from maternal fetal medicine consultations are those with medical or surgical conditions such as heart disease or high blood pressure, or those healthy women whose pregnancy has a high-risk condition (i.e., twins, triplets or a history of pregnancy loss).
In addition, our world-recognized Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is ready to receive babies who come early, with highly trained specialists and nursing staff to care for these new arrivals.
