We work with other nonprofit organizations and government agencies to address community needs. Collaboration allows us to maximize resources and achieve better outcomes for the benefit of the community. We are especially pleased to partner with:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La CrosseOur partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs began when Mayo Clinic Health System leaders toured the Mathy Center Club in 2013. We were inspired by the Boys & Girls Clubs’ unique commitment and ability to serve youth in our community. Since then our ongoing collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs has spanned programs such as the Guitar Academy; placement of full-time behavioral health specialists at the Mathy and Erickson Clubs; and most recently, inviting the Boys & Girls Clubs to join us as co-presenter of the Big Blue Dragon Boat Festival.
Coulee Council on AddictionsIn 2017, Mayo Clinic Health System partnered with Coulee Council on Addictions to provide a site for its new Coulee Recovery Center within the bounds of our La Crosse campus. This bright, welcoming facility opened during the summer of 2018. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Coulee Council on Addictions to support area individuals and families impacted by addiction.
GROW La CrosseMayo Clinic Health System has served as the corporate sponsor of GROW La Crosse since 2015. GROW’s mission “to connect children with healthy food and nature” aligns well with our work to reduce the impact of chronic disease in our community by encouraging gardening and the consumption of fresh healthy foods. Studies show that engaging children in gardening while providing related classroom curriculum increases their consumption of fruits and vegetables for a lifetime. Our corporate sponsorship of GROW has included both financial contributions and in-kind support. In-kind support includes facilitating strategic planning sessions to help GROW expand its programming and achieve greater sustainability.
Health Science AcademyMayo Clinic Health System is a proud partner of the Health Science Academy (HSA). The HSA provides high school students with experiences in healthcare. Program goals include improving diversity, creating opportunities for students, and developing long-term workforce strategies. The program provides thematic instruction, career exploration, job shadows, clinical experience, health science labs, mentoring by health professionals, research, certification and internship opportunities for students. At Mayo Clinic Health System, students engage in field experiences, job shadows, and mentorships, as well as basic and advanced life support training.
