EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Weight Management Services at Mayo Clinic Health System locations in Eau Claire and Rice Lake recently received two Health Management Resources Gold Standard Certificates of Achievement. These awards distinguish Mayo Clinic Health System from hundreds of clinics nationwide using a weight loss program developed by Health Management Resources, a national health care company based out of Boston that specializes in medically managed weight loss.
HMR recognizes programs that demonstrate excellence in performance and patient care by presenting Gold Standard certificates annually to a select group of clinics across the nation. Certificates are awarded in categories that are critical for patient success, such as greatest weight loss rates, outstanding group attendance and best weight maintenance data. HMR programs nationwide submit clinical data in these areas, and the top programs receive the certificates.
“This award is testimony to our track record of helping our patients achieve life-changing results,” says Katie Bohlinger, a registered dietitian and health educator in Weight Management Services.
Of particular note, Mayo Clinic Health System’s low drop-out rate in Rice Lake. The monthly drop-out rate for Weight Management Service’s patients was 6 percent, compared to commercial programs whose drop-out rates could be as high as 26 percent or more.
Mayo Clinic Health System’s program also was honored for its success in patient record-keeping. Keeping food journals and tracking physical activity is a proven indicator of long-term weight loss success. Eau Claire placed in the highest 5 percent of all programs in the country.
Weight Management Services offers a variety of weight loss choices, including in-clinic programs with optional medical supervision, at-home diet kits with optional phone support and classes based on The Mayo Clinic Diet book. Free orientation meetings are held in Rice Lake and Eau Claire. For meeting dates and times or for additional information, call 715-838-6731 or visit mayoclinichealthsystem.org.
