ST. JAMES, Minn. — Lori Sodeman, L.G.S.W., recently began providing behavioral health services at Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James and is now taking appointments. A licensed social worker, Sodeman provides services that consist of an initial assessment and, if needed, subsequent therapy sessions (four to six total), each ranging from 30 to 60 minutes. Treatment for depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders and grief/loss are all available. Persistent cases will continue to be referred to community providers who are able to offer long-term therapeutic treatment.
“Mental health plays a big part in our everyday lives,” says Sodeman. “It’s nice to be able to provide these services at the clinic in St. James. We’re able to connect people with resources that can help meet their needs close to home.”
Originally from Waldorf, Minnesota, Sodeman is a graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where she completed a Master of Social Work degree. She began her career at the St. James Medical Center in 2000, and has since worked with the social work team.
“I appreciate working in a smaller community,” says Sodeman. “However, I also like that we are supported by one of the world’s greatest medical centers in Mayo Clinic. This directly connects our patients to the highest level of care, right where they live.”
“We recognize there is an increasing need for behavioral health services, no matter where you live,” says Jennifer Langbehn, D.O., Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James medical director. “Having Lori available to our community will be a great resource for people seeking compassionate expert care.”
Sodeman says her special interests lie in anxiety and depressive disorders, adjustment disorders, grief/loss, chronic illness/chronic pain, community social service resources and adolescent behavioral health.
