EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –– Janki Patel, D.O., a specialist in Infectious Diseases at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, was named northwest Wisconsin’s 2016 Consultant of the Year. The award was created in 2012 by Mayo Clinic Health System’s primary care physicians in northwest Wisconsin to show their appreciation for consultants who often assist with management of their patients. A consultant is annually selected by peer vote and recognized at the Physician Quarterly Forum. Consultants are nominated for providing patient-centered care, outstanding service and encouraging open communication.
Dr. Patel says she felt surprised to receive the award, which was presented to her on Jan. 30.
“I was shocked to receive the award,” Dr. Patel says. “It’s humbling to know my Primary Care colleagues think highly of me and find me deserving of the award.”
Dr. Patel says she would not be able to do her job without her colleagues’ support, help and understanding.
“My colleagues truly care about their jobs and consistently make patients a priority,” Dr. Patel says. “When tough situations arise, I am assured that staff will work together as a team to overcome the obstacle. They continue to inspire me to be a better physician and health care provider.”
