CANNON FALLS, Minn — Invited guests and employees of Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls witnessed an official breaking of the ground for a new clinic and hospital on April 12, 2013. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Mayo Clinic Health System’s property located on 67th Avenue Way where the new medical center will be built. It’s on the south side of Cannon Falls of Highway 52.
Approximately 120 individuals listened to remarks by Tom Witt, M.D., CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls, Lake City and Red Wing, Rob Nesse, M.D., CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System Robby Robinson, mayor of Cannon Falls, and Kathy Brekken, chair of community campaign cabinet.
The groundbreaking was only open to invited guests and employees due to limited access to the site.
In the new medical center, patients and visitors can expect an improved overall experience beyond the continued presence of dependable, high-quality health care. The new facility will have three times more space than the current building allowing Mayo Clinic Health System to expand primary and specialty services, improve privacy and add new technology. Health care teams will be able to collaborate more easily to meet patient needs.
Boldt Construction has been chosen as the manager for the building project. Boldt estimates up to 175 different craft employees will work on the site until the project is completed sometime in the fall of 2014.
An open house event will be planned upon completion of the project, and the general public will have an opportunity to tour the new facility.
