LE SUEUR, Minn. — Emma Cleary, nurse practitioner, is the newest member of the family medicine team at Mayo Clinic Health System in Le Sueur. She joined the organization in August and starts seeing patients in early November.
“I’m honored for the opportunity to partner with the people of this community,” says Cleary. “I value the relationships a smaller, rural community affords. People know and trust each other. As a provider, you can learn so much from the patients you see.”
Originally from Ohio, Cleary started her health care career early, working as a nurse’s aide at the age of 16. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Shortly thereafter, she received her Master of Science degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Throughout her studies, Cleary has also found time to travel the world to help volunteer where she can. She lists the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Mexico as locations where she has provided care to those in need.
“Having the resources of Mayo Clinic available to me and my patients in Le Sueur is an incredible benefit,” says Cleary. “The ability to collaborate with the specialists in Rochester is critical as we look to educate and treat any number of health conditions.”
“Having a provider such as Emma join our growing team of family medicine providers is exciting,” says Jen Quiring, operations manager at Mayo Clinic Health System in Le Sueur. “We are proud to continually deliver Mayo Clinic care to our community.”
Cleary says she is a strong advocate for her patients and her fellow providers. In 2012, she served as legislative director on the Ohio Nursing Student’s Association, where she authored an adopted resolution at the National Student Nurses’ Association National Convention. Her medical interests include pediatrics, women’s health and care for young adults. Outside of the clinic, Cleary enjoys practicing yoga, cycling and continuing her travels to Central America.
