CANNON FALLS, Minn. — Newborn babies and their mothers from the area have an opportunity to connect with other moms, Mayo Clinic Health System lactation experts, and now a pediatric provider through the Cannon Falls Area Baby Café, held every Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls.
The Baby Café is national network of breastfeeding drop-ins, combining breastfeeding information with a relaxed, informal environment where mothers can chat and learn about breastfeeding from skilled practitioners and each other. The Cannon Falls Area Baby Café is still in its infancy, officially beginning November 2016. There is no cost to attend Baby Café and moms and babies can attend as often as they wish.
Renee Breland, a certified pediatric nurse practitioner who sees children at Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls and at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, will also help lend a hand and visit with new moms about their babies. She attended the Baby Café for the first time Feb. 7, and plans to regularly attend Baby Cafés in Cannon Falls on the second Tuesday of each month. She also will attend the Feb. 28 Baby Café. For more information about Baby Café or to schedule a pediatric appointment at Mayo Clinic Health System, call 507-263-6001.
Mayo Clinic pediatric nurse practitioner Renee Breland visits with first-time mom, Chelsey Anfinson and her mother, Cindy Lewis, both of Kenyon, at the Cannon Falls Area Baby Café on Feb. 7, 2017.
