During your initial visit, you will be evaluated by a physical therapist in some or all of these areas:
- Movement or motion
- Balance and coordination
- Neurological system
- Cardiovascular system
When your goals have been identified and the evaluation completed, your therapist will establish and implement an individual treatment program. A treatment program may include:
- General physical therapy
- Sports medicine
- Cancer rehabilitation
- Lymphedema services
- Occupational therapy
- Hand therapy
- Massage therapy
- Dizzy/Balance (vestibular) rehabilitation
- Strengthening exercises
- Flexibility exercises
- Use of heat or cold prior to and following exercises
- Instructions for home activities and exercises
Part of your road to recovery may require using crutches or a walker, wearing a back or knee brace, using an orthotic (foot support) or obtaining assistance in selecting proper footwear. Your physical therapist will assist you and your medical provider in identifying and obtaining the appliance that is best suited for you.
