Care Settings

Each health care visit is different, which is why we offer convenient pediatric care options in various settings. But how do you know what type of care to seek for your child? Read the options below, or call our Nurse Line to get around-the-clock advice from our team of expert and caring registered nurses.

Emergency Department

If your child has a health emergency, then you should come to the Emergency Department (ED). An emergency is when a condition arises that you deem severe, oftentimes a life or death situation. Good examples are a severe allergic reaction, head trauma or a compound fracture — a bone break that protrudes through the skin.

The ED has resources to effectively diagnose and treat severe life or death situations. Choose the ED if you have immediate worries about your child’s health.

Always call 911 in the event of an emergency.

Express Care/Urgent Care

If your child has a non-emergent ailment that can’t wait until tomorrow, go to Express Care or Urgent Care. Specializing in the treatment of minor illness and injury, Express Care and Urgent Care providers commonly diagnose and treat colds and coughs, ear infections, minor burns and cuts, rashes and other non-life threatening conditions.

Think of it as the middle-ground between your primary care provider and the ED. But don’t use it simply for convenience — make sure your need is urgent in nature.

Appointments aren't required; walk-ins welcome.

Primary Care

Your child’s primary care provider, who may be a pediatric or family medicine provider, is who you should call to schedule checkups and other non-urgent medical appointments. Remember that your primary care provider knows your children, their medical history and what medications they are on, providing continuity of care.

In our pediatric clinic, kids have fun! From friendly nurses and providers to specially-themed exam rooms and stickers — making patients and families feel welcome is our goal. Kids love the books and activities. Parents love the relaxed, worry-free atmosphere.

Hospital Care
Our special care nursery and pediatric wing make being at the hospital more relaxing for newborns, kids and their parents. Kids can be themselves in the pediatric play area and are cared for by a dedicated, 24/7 pediatric provider. Parents can stay overnight in their child's room.
