The Mayo Clinic Health System Franciscan Healthcare Center for Breast Care provides evaluation, treatment and follow-up of your breast concerns. We will assist you in coordinating your breast care throughout your visit here.
Your breast health team is led by physicians specializing in breast care. A clinical nurse breast health specialist and technologists support them. This team will develop a comprehensive plan to address your breast concerns. Specialists from breast imaging, general surgery, plastic surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, genetic education and nursing may be asked to collaborate in your care to achieve the best possible results.
The Center for Breast Care helps women who:
- Have found a lump
- Have breast/nipple discharge
- Have breast pain that is persistent and unrelated to menses
- Have had an abnormal mammogram or breast ultrasound Seek a second opinion about a lump or other abnormality
- Wish to be screened for breast cancer
- Are concerned about the risk of developing breast cancer
Our goal is to provide you with comprehensive and individualized treatment for all your breast concerns.
The Breast Interdisciplinary team consists of all related specialties that care for our Breast Cancer patients. The team is compromised of staff from: Pathology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Research, Cancer Guide, and Radiology.
The members of this group come into direct care with all of our newly diagnosed Breast Cancer patients. It is the goal of this team to care for every aspect of the patient from surgery, oncology treatment, psychological needs, to follow-up care. The Breast team meets two times per month to discuss each newly diagnosed patient as well as communicate updates on other cases.
This innovative method for developing a treatment plan gives each of our Breast Cancer patients the best possible care. It is our goal through the cooperation and communication of the physicians that all areas will be addressed.
Our Center for Breast Care was established in 2005 and was accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) in 2009. The NAPBC was established to identify and recognize centers providing quality care to patients with diseases of the breast.
Our Center for Breast Care is now in its new location on the second floor of the Hospital Building on the La Crosse Campus.
