The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont provides specialized care to patients with various medical needs, from lower level hospitalizations, to those in critical condition. The PCU is designed for six patients, and has advanced monitoring systems. Nurses in the PCU are ACLS certified (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and work with the patient's physician to provide specialty care. Their special training helps them handle complex medical, cardiac and surgical cases as well as emergency situations.
Enhanced Critical Care
Enhanced Critical Care is a program designed to improve care, shorten hospital stays and provide an additional layer of care closer to home for critical care patients. In addition to being cared for by a local team, patients are remotely monitored by specially trained physicians and nurses working at an operations center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
