Patients should bring personal care items, night clothes and two changes of daytime clothing when admitted to the Inpatient Behavioral Health unit. Laundry facilities are available. Daily grooming and care of personal appearance are encouraged. Bathing necessities such as soap and shampoo are provided. Assistance from staff is available if needed.
Clothing with belts, strings and long ties are prohibited. Slippers, socks or shoes must be worn at all times. Clothing considered sexually inappropriate or imprinted with violent and/or graphic images is prohibited.
Patients are encouraged to eat meals in the community rooms. Meal times are 8 a.m., 12 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Snacks are available throughout the day as requested and in accordance with the patient’s diet order. A scheduled snack is provided at bedtime. Caffeinated beverages (cola and diet cola) are served during the day and with meals. To assist in improving sleep, these beverages are not served after 7 p.m.
Patients are responsible for keeping their room and the unit’s community areas neat at all times.
Mail may be received while a patient in the unit. Mail is delivered to the nursing station Monday through Friday. Staff will deliver mail to the patient. For safety reasons, all received mail must be opened in the presence of a staff member. Outgoing patient mail must be provided to the nurse. Envelopes and stamps will be supplied if needed.
