Classes and Programs
After obtaining a membership with the Wellness Center, you have the option to participate in a free fitness assessment. This assessment will include a physical aspect consisting of strength, endurance and flexibility. You will also have the option to discuss other areas of wellness with the Wellness Coordinator such as stressors, relaxation techniques and goals.
This initial assessment is free and optional. There is an assessment available for member ages 18-65, and a senior assessment for members ages 65 and older. One time participation only, please set up an appointment at the front desk.
Equipment Basics Class
This is a class that will give you an orientation to all the equipment and demonstrate proper uses. There will be demonstrations on how to operate and adjust the equipment for a personalized fit, as well as how to use the equipment with proper form.
This class is free and optional. Please see the front desk to schedule an appointment.

Therapeutic Chair Yoga
Research has shown that yoga can provide an increased sense of empowerment and the ability to better perform the activities of daily living. Join us for this class which will include gentle yoga poses, relaxation techniques and breathing practices to help to reduce pain, improve sleep, increase energy and balance, improve your attitude and overall quality of life. We will do yoga poses sitting in a chair and standing using a chair for balance. The class will be personalized to the needs of the participants.
Michele will be offering a FREE class on Monday, Sept. 11.
Private Yoga Sessions
If you would like to try yoga but are intimidated by attending a group class, schedule a private yoga session with Michele and learn yoga poses and appropriate modifications, breathing practices and relaxation techniques with one-on-one instruction. Michele will also design a yoga practice for you to do at home tailored to your physical, mental and emotional needs. If you are living with a chronic health condition, such as low back pain, yoga therapy may help reduce or eliminate your symptoms and give you tools for a better quality of life. Yoga therapy is beneficial for individuals of all ages and abilities.
Yoga therapy is typically not covered by insurance but you may pay for it out of flex spending or health savings accounts.
About Michele Hoffman:
Michele has completed a four- year, 1000-hour Yoga Therapy program through the American Viniyoga Institute. She has been teaching therapeutic yoga for 20 years and is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Michele has been employed as a yoga therapist at Mayo Clinic Health System since 2010. She specializes in working with people of all ages who are living with chronic health conditions, such as low back pain. Michele offers individual yoga therapy sessions to help people recover from injuries and surgeries, reduce or eliminate symptoms and increase their overall health and vitality. She teaches small group therapeutic yoga classes to the community in Red Wing and Cannon Falls, and works in the Mayo Clinic Hospice program with yoga therapy and healing touch therapy.
