Mayo Clinic Health System - Austin and all of its programs and activities are accessible to and useable by physically disabled persons, including persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, or blind, or who have other sensory impairments and are free of charge. Access features include:
Curb cuts and ramps between parking areas and buildings. Level access into first floor level with elevator access to all other floors. Fully accessible offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, public waiting areas, cafeteria, patient treatment areas, including examining rooms and patient wards.
Door attendants or patient care staff can help you arrange accessibility services. Family and friends are also welcome to assist you with special needs during your visit to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.
Wheelchairs, Walkers, and Wagons
Wheelchairs, walkers, and wagons are available free of charge for use on campus. Wheel chairs are located throughout the campus and at each off-campus location. Walkers and wagons can be checked out at the main entrance. If you prefer a larger-sized wheelchair, please ask a staff member.
Scooters and Wheelchairs for Off-Campus Rental
Scooters and wheelchairs needed for off-campus use can be rented at the Mayo Clinic Store at the main campus location.
Patient escorts are available to transport patients to and from appointments. This free assistance is offered to patients with visual impairments, those who use wheelchairs and others who have difficulty walking. Staff members in patient care areas or at information desks can arrange an escort and provide directions or answer questions during your visit.
If you have a handicapped parking tag displayed on your vehicle, you may park in any designated parking stall.
Van-accessible and state handicap parking spaces are located at all locations.
Assistive and Communication Aids
A range of assistive and communication aids are available to persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or have other sensory impairments. There is no additional charge for such aids. Some of these aids include:
- Qualified sign language interpreters are available to persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. Please tell the registration staff or scheduler that you will need an interpreter.
- A twenty-four hour (24) telecommunication device (TTY/TDD) can connect the caller to all extensions within the facility and/or portable (TTY/TDD) units, for use by persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired.

- Mayo Clinic Patient App for IPhone, IPad – fully accessible to visually impaired patients – Access to Mayo medical record and patient education information

All buildings have wheelchair-accessible restrooms with signs noting accessibility. If you have difficulty locating a wheelchair-accessible restroom, ask a Mayo Clinic Health System staff member for assistance.
