2012 Summer Nurse Internship Program
Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea is pleased to offer a learning experience that allows a nursing student to be immersed in the hospital setting and work with an experienced preceptor. It is a great opportunity to learn and to improve skills.
In order to qualify for a position; by Fall of 2012, the nursing student must be entering (or part way through) the last year of their nursing program and have a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support card. The program is open to Associate Degree and Bachelor Degree nursing students.
The summer nurse internship is affiliated with Riverland Community College. This means that a student who is offered an internship will be required to register for the NURS 115 Clinical Internship at Riverland Community College. An instructor from Riverland Community College provides oversight to the program and will have communication with the intern and his/her preceptor throughout the summer.
The internship lasts 10 weeks and starts early in June. The majority of experiences are on the Medical-Surgical Unit with a preceptor.
