Mayo Clinic Health System Welcomes New Leaders

August 27, 2013

Mary Hoffman, the chief financial officer (CFO) at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Jacksonville, Fla., has been named chief administrative officer at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross. Hoffman succeeds Robert Trimm, who announced earlier this year that he would leave in September to take a consultant position with Studer Group.

Along with her new responsibilities in Waycross, Hoffman will continue in her CFO role in Jacksonville, a position she has held since 2000. She has been employed at Mayo Clinic since 1985.

“Mary will transition smoothly into her new duties,” says Kenneth Calamia, M.D., chief executive officer of Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross. “She has been an important figure in the development of a strong and vibrant Mayo Clinic Health System presence locally.”

Hoffman received a bachelor’s degree from Mankato State University in Minnesota and CPA licensure from the state of Minnesota in 1981. Earlier this year, she completed an Executive Master of Business Administration degree at Jacksonville University. Modern Healthcare magazine named Hoffman as a 1999 “Up and Comer,” and she has served on the boards and committees of numerous professional and civic organizations.

The health system also announced that Cheryl Croft was selected to be an associate administrator in Waycross. The position, formerly known as chief operations officer, was held by Windell Smith until his departure in July. Smith now is an administrator at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Jacksonville.

Croft comes to Waycross from Jacksonville, where she served as operations administrator, supporting the Emergency Department and Division of Radiology. She previously led Mayo’s Information Technology Department in Florida, and has been with the organization for more than 20 years.

Croft received an Associate of Arts degree in Nursing from Florida Junior College in Jacksonville, and a bachelor’s degree in Professional Arts from St. Joseph’s College in Wyndham, Maine. In 2009, she completed a Master of Business Administration degree at Jacksonville University.

“Both Hoffman and Croft will provide strategic oversight to the Waycross campus,” Dr. Calamia says. “They will continue to champion integration efforts that are taking place across Mayo.”
