May 11, 2015

LAKE CITY, Minn. —  Emily Linklater, D.O., and Jana Brand, a certified nurse practitioner, will bring their expertise in obstetrics and gynecology to Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City and Wabasha starting May 13. They will be working closely with Lake City and Wabasha providers through a new obstetrics (OB) shared care model to offer patients easy access to pre and postnatal care in Lake City and Wabasha as well as specialty gynecological services. Dr. Linklater and Brand currently see patients at Mayo Clinic Health System’s Red Wing location and will be on-site in Lake City and Wabasha to see patients in the clinic on Wednesdays.

“We are excited to have Dr. Linklater and Jana join our team of clinical providers in Lake City and Wabasha,” says Tom Witt, M.D., CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls, Lake City and Red Wing. “Working with our Lake City and Wabasha providers, their expertise on women’s health issues will help meet the needs of our patients. They will see patients independently and also serve as a specialty resource to share OB care if needed and support our primary care providers.”

Dr. Linklater is a graduate of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri. She has special interests in prenatal care, adolescent gynecology, infertility, high risk pregnancy, menopause and urogynecology.

Jana Brand is a board certified nurse practitioner in women’s health and attended Winona State University in Winona, Minn. and graduated from the Planned Parenthood M/SD Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Brand’s special interests include prenatal care and education, postnatal care, contraception, infertility and well-women care.

Both women’s health specialties will offer services that include prenatal care, family planning, annual preventative visits, general gynecology, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence and management of heavy menstrual flow. Dr. Linklater and Brand will work cohesively with each other, as well as with the other practicing providers in Lake City and Wabasha, to deliver seamless care to patients.

Through the shared care model, The BirthPlace at Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing will be the designated birth center, however, medical staff will make arrangements if patients choose to give birth someplace else. As a designated birth center, Red Wing offers resources and specialized physicians who can provide advanced care when necessary.
