Expanded Hours Discontinue AM Urgent Care

February 06, 2013

Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare in Tomah will be expanding its appointment hours starting March 1, 2013. The new hours will be 7am to 7pm, Monday through Thursday and 7am to 5pm on Friday. As a result, morning urgent care hours will be discontinued. At this time, evening urgent care hours will stay the same - 5pm to 7pm Monday through Thursday.

“We know how busy our patients are, so we want them to be able to make an appointment to see their provider when it’s convenient for them, whether it’s before or after work and school,” said Willard Schanhofer, M.D., lead physician for the clinic.

With the recent additions of three new providers, the clinic is able to offer more same day appointments for patients with conditions such as sore throats, colds, fever, as well as earaches, sinus congestion and rashes.

“Same day appointments are meant to be used for the same conditions that our patients would use urgent care for, with the benefit of having a scheduled appointment so they don’t have to wait to be seen,” said Sue Christianson, RN, patient care director. “Patients also have a better chance of seeing their own provider for care because all of our providers reserve space in their schedules for same day appointments.”
