Top 20 CAH Quality Award

July 16, 2013

Mayo Clinic Health System Franciscan Healthcare’s Sparta Hospital was recently named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals for quality in the country by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA).

The Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals, including Sparta Hospital, scored best among critical access hospitals on iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength Index™ for Quality. The Quality index is a rating of hospital performance based on the percentile rank across the five categories of Hospital Compare Process of Care measures.

“Mayo Clinic Health System is proud of the efforts and dedication of its physicians and staff who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation,” stated Kim Hawthorne, administrator for the Sparta campus. “Our results as a top critical access hospital for quality affirm what many already know and feel about the care we provide for our patients in Sparta.”

“"We have an exceptional and innovative care team, and we keep our patient’s needs in the forefront of every decision. It is affirming to see our clinical quality validated by outside sources, and our patient experience scores are telling the same story,” explained Eric Rotert, M.D., Chief of Staff for Sparta Hospital.

The Sparta hospital provides 24/7 inpatient, emergency, and diagnostic services in addition to outpatient surgical services and is a critical transitional facility for patients receiving care throughout the Mayo Clinic system.
