RICE LAKE, Wis. — Persistent swelling of the legs or arms, called lymphedema, is a common condition that often goes untreated. Learn how to practice safe exercises with this condition at the free Lymphedema: Laugh and Learn support group from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, in the second floor conference room at Mayo Clinic Health System – Northland in Rice Lake, 331 S. Main St.< p/>
Physical therapists Tiffany Kann and Jenny Hastreiter, who are nationally certified in lymphedema care, will present information on safe exercises for people with swollen limbs. Those with lymphedema, their loved ones and caregivers are invited to attend. For questions, contact Hastreiter at 715-236-8549.
While there is no cure for lymphedema, treatment can increase function, comfort and quality of life.
