RED WING, Minn. — Whether it’s getting lab results, reviewing their history of prescribed medications, or checking on their next office visit, Mayo Clinic Health System patients now have access to their personal medical information at their fingertips. Mayo Clinic Health System has launched its online patient portal, Patient Online Services, for patients in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
“We want our patients to be active and engaged participants in their care,” says Robert Nesse, M.D., president and CEO of the 70-member health system. “Giving them round-the-clock access to their medical records is part of that open exchange of information.”
Patients can create their account by going to the Patient Online Services page, or by downloading the Mayo Clinic patient app on their iOS or Android device. Once an account has been created, patients will have access to:
- Lab results
- Clinical notes
- Medication lists
- Upcoming appointments
- Medical documents
Patients can also exchange secure messages with their health care providers and request appointments or prescription renewals.
“In Red Wing, Ellsworth and Zumbrota, this takes the place of MyChart that provided online access to records,” says Tom Witt, M.D. president and CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls, Lake City and Red Wing. “Signing up is simple and assures that patients continue to have the online access that they are used to as well as some new features.”
