MANKATO, Minn. — Mayo Clinic Health System today announced the birth of the first baby of the New Year in its Mankato hospital.
Serenity Adams, a girl, was born at 9:20 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, to Stephanie Gronewold of St. James, MN. Serenity weighed 8 pounds, 9.1 ounces and was 23 inches long at birth. She has an older brother, Braxton, age 2.
There were 1,455 babies born at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato in 2015. That compares with 1,502 births at the medical center in 2014. The highest total since the organization began keeping records occurred in 2006, with 1,636 that year.
