ELLSWORTH, Wis. — A Family Medicine provider with local ties recently joined the medical team at Mayo Clinic Health System’s clinic in Ellsworth.
Evie Christensen, doctor of nursing practice, grew up in the Red Wing area and has lived in Ellsworth for the past 10 years with her family. As a doctor of nursing practice, Christensen has an advanced nurse practitioner degree that allows her to diagnose and treat diseases.
“I’m very excited to be in Ellsworth. I feel I’m even more vested in making the medical care in my community thrive and exceed expectations,” she says.
Christensen earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis. She also has undergraduate nursing degree from Metropolitan State University. She most recently practiced at Mayo Clinic Health System’s location in Cannon Falls. She transferred to Ellsworth to be closer to home. “I cut down my commute to 7 miles instead of 58 miles,” she says.
Christensen enjoys working with patients of all ages. “I like having the opportunity to help patients maintain their health as well as manage complex medical issues,” says Christensen. In addition to complex care management, Christensen has special interest in women’s health, sports medicine and wound care.
Christensen and her husband, Tony, have two children, Jens (5) and Arie (3). In her spare time, she enjoys running, being involved in her church community, and spending time with family.
