EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Fawad Aslam, M.D., recently joined the Rheumatology Department at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Dr. Aslam attended Aitchison College in Lahore, Pakistan. He earned his medical degree at The Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Aslam also earned a postgraduate diploma in public health at London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He was a rheumatology fellow at University of Arkansas in Little Rock.
Dr. Aslam also is trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which can facilitate joint procedures, help in clarifying diagnoses and monitor disease activity.
He is board certified in internal medicine and is a diplomate with the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Aslam is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the Global Health Council.
Rheumatologists diagnose and treat patients affected by diseases of the joints and connective tissue, including more than 100 types of arthritis and many autoimmune diseases. Dr. Aslam’s special interests include rheumatoid arthritis, musculoskeletal ultrasound and vasculitis, an inflammation of the blood vessels.
“It is my goal to develop the most appropriate treatment plan through shared decision-making with the patient,” says Dr. Aslam.
In his spare time, he likes to read, swim and travel.
