EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Families in Eau Claire will soon have a new option for health care. Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire will open a new Family Medicine location on Aug. 15 in the lower level of the Luther Campus at 1400 Bellinger St. The new location, the result of a $2.45 million renovation, will include 12 patient exam rooms, a dedicated procedure room, and two rooms for patient education and team-based care meetings.

This is a second Family Medicine location in Eau Claire. The other location is at the Clairemont Campus, 733 W. Clairemont Ave. The new location is expected to employ up to 30 full-time staff.

The new location also will house the new Mayo Clinic Family Medicine Residency program starting in July 2017. The program will begin with five medical school graduates and will work up to 15 by the third year. The program has received accreditation with commendation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

“Having a second Family Medicine location in Eau Claire will be an added convenience for our patients,” says Randall Linton, M.D., president and CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System for northwest Wisconsin. “In addition, the new residency program will allow us to train high-quality physicians for the future.”

Residency program director Terri Nordin, M.D.; Terrence Witt, M.D.; Kyja Stygar, M.D.; and Robert Watson, M.D., will care for patients in Family Medicine and serve as faculty for the program.

The providers will take a team-based approach to patient care.

“This new area was specifically designed to support innovation and team-based care that keeps patients at the center of their care experience,” says Dr. Nordin. “The layout and technologies allow for enhanced communication among the care-team members, which leads to a high-quality, personalized visit for every patient.”
