Health Break: Be Stroke Smart!
6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, in the clinic lobby at Mayo Clinic Health System, 1400 Bellinger St., Eau Claire. Use the clinic entrance.
Neurologist Felix Chukwudelunzu, M.D., will offer a free educational Health Break presentation on risks, causes, recognition, prevention and treatment.
“Think of stroke as a ‘brain attack,’ similar to a heart attack,” says Dr. Chukwudelunzu. “The important thing is to get medical attention right away because prompt treatment is crucial to minimize brain damage and potential complications. The good news is that strokes also can be prevented. Controlling risk factors — such as high blood pressure and cholesterol and quitting smoking — can make a world of difference in preventing strokes from occurring.”
