CANNON FALLS, Minn. — Renee Breland, a certified pediatric nurse practitioner, has recently joined the team of primary care providers at Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls. Breland will see patients two days a week in Cannon Falls and will work collaboratively with pediatrician Amy Down, D.O.
Breland received her bachelor degree in nursing from Michigan State University. She graduated from Kent State University’s pediatric nurse practitioner program. She holds the rank of instructor in pediatrics at Mayo Clinic’s College of Medicine. Breland will continue her role one day a week as a practitioner in Community Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Breland has worked in the Department of Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic for eight years. Caring for children of all ages, Breland has special interests in attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and children’s mental health. She has participated in workgroups that address ADHD, pediatric obesity and patient education.
“I look forward to seeing patients here in my home community of Cannon Falls,” says Breland. “From infants to teenagers, caring for children is a passion of mine. I feel it is important to take the time to listen to concerns and respond to children’s needs.”
Breland lives in Cannon Falls with her husband and two children, ages 5 and 9. In her free time she enjoys running, camping and spending time with her family.
