New mothers and mothers-to-be are invited to celebrate the launch of the Cannon Falls Area Baby Café on Tuesday, November 1. Established in 2000, Baby Café is a national network of breastfeeding drop-ins, combining breastfeeding information with a relaxed, informal environment where mothers can chat and learn about breastfeeding from skilled practitioners and each other.
The Baby Café will be open every Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church located at 511 W. Belle Street, Cannon Falls, Minn. Refreshments are provided.
“We are thrilled to launch the Baby Café in the Cannon Falls community. The success of the Lake City Area Baby Café has proven to us that there is definite need for lactation support and resources in our communities,” says Jenna Reinhart, a registered nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant at Mayo Clinic Health System and Café facilitator. “We have been able to extend Baby Cafe to include the Cannon Falls Area with the financial support from the Dr. Catherine B. Friedrich Root Endowment Fund and Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing, and staff from our local Goodhue Wabasha Pierce County Breastfeeding Coalition.”
The Café will offer resources and community support for breastfeeding women and will help enable them to breastfeed longer. Cannon Falls Area Baby Café is open to anyone interested in any aspect of breastfeeding – prenatal women, mothers, partners, and supporters with the intention that all mothers will be able to access the information and support they need to breastfeed.
Mayo Clinic Health System is a member of the Goodhue Wabasha Pierce County Breastfeeding Coalition. Founded in 2013, it is a coalition of individuals, groups and organizations from the three counties who work collaboratively to promote and support breastfeeding within their communities for the health and wellness of children and families.
