Nurse-midwife Sandy Pelnar joins OB-GYN in Barron, Eau Claire and Rice Lake

BARRON, Wis. — Certified nurse-midwife Sandy Pelnar recently joined Obstetrics & Gynecology at Mayo Clinic Health System – Northland in Barron. She also will care for patients in Rice Lake and Eau Claire.

Pelnar earned her master’s degree in the certified nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner program at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and her bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She also earned an associate’s degree in nursing at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Previously, Pelnar worked as a registered nurse in orthopedics at Prevea Health Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Pelnar is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and is trained in electronic fetal monitoring, as well as CPR.

Pelnar’s professional interests include promoting women’s health choice in their individual birthing and delivery methods, being an advocate for women in their health care and being a supporter of annual mammograms for women starting at age 40.

In her free time, Pelnar enjoys reading, running half marathons and camping with her family.
