Shingles vaccine available in Pharmacy at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea

Zostavax, a vaccine that reduces the risk of the development of shingles, is available and in stock in the pharmacy for patients over the age of 60 with a valid prescription from their health care provider. The Zostavax vaccine is no longer on manufacture backorder.

The vaccine is administered by a nurse in the pharmacy’s consultation room. The vaccine is stored in the pharmacy because it must remain frozen.

Patients should check with their individual health insurance plans to determine coverage. Appointments can be made by stopping by the pharmacy or calling 373-7952.
