Mayo Clinic Cancer Center in Albert Lea receives donation from ‘Masters of Disaster’

June 21, 2016

ALBERT LEA, Minnesota — The ‘Crossroads of Destruction’ demolition derby was recently held at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds in Albert Lea. The event sponsor, Masters of Disaster, was also thinking of the needs of the people in the community.  Event vendor, Elvis Thumb, from North Dakota donated a slider driver shaft for a raffle on the condition that the proceeds were donated to help cancer patients in the Albert Lea area.  Event coordinators, Paul and Heather Nielsen and Matt and Lisa Ertman, raised $1000.

Masters of Disaster contacted Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin and donated the funds to the Albert Lea Cancer Center for a remodel project that will enhance the patients’ experience.

Kellie Peterson and Jenni Mattson, Albert Lea Cancer Center managers, and other staff were able to meet the Nielsen’s and thank them and their partners for the generous donation.
