Beat the heat

Temperatures can sometimes exceed 90 F with humidity and the heat index. Staying hydrated is important for everyday health. When selecting fluids, there are many options to choose from.

  • Water: This is the most simple and inexpensive option.
  • Low calorie and low sugar options: These drinks include water with fresh lemon or sparkling water.
  • Sports drinks: These are intended for athletes who perform strenuous activity in extreme heat for approximately two or more hours. Sports enhancing beverages contain potassium, sodium, sugar, carbohydrates and calories. They are not intended to be consumed just for fun or to accompany a meal.
